IMPORTANT! | 2021 Heat Soccer Association Update from Trina Hatcher
Dear IGH Heat Soccer Association Members:
The following communication is to provide you with an update of the state of our Heat Soccer Club and make you aware of activities that we are initiating to continue operating as a non-profit community soccer association and expanding the opportunities and services that we can offer to our players and families.
Our soccer association continues to focus on providing high-quality soccer services to all member families at the lowest cost possible. We’ve been working toward fielding at least two teams at every age level so that players can play at their age level and team rosters are more balanced to create a better soccer experience for everyone.
2020 was a difficult year for everyone due to COVID-19 and our Heat Soccer Club was no exception. We refunded over $60,000 of 2020 summer registration fees and our registrations went from over 250 players in early 2020 to 100 players in 2021.
In order to provide more opportunities to our members and continue improving the quality of community soccer in our local communities, we have started discussing options with nearby clubs. At this time, we are discussing the possibility of a merger with the South Saint Paul Soccer Club that would be effective starting with the Fall 2021 season. We believe that this mutual partnership will be beneficial to all members of both clubs and nearby communities.
As you may be aware, a decision to merge with another club requires approval by Heat association members. While we continue the exploratory work with SSP, we would like to solicit feedback on whether this is an option that we should continue pursuing. Feedback can be provided at the following survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/
The survey results will be used to determine if members agree that this is a viable option and will determine our course of action. Please respond to the survey as soon as you can but no later than Friday, February 19.
If the association agrees that a merger is in the best interest of our soccer community, we will have an "official" vote at a future special meeting as well as hold information sessions during the planning process to keep everyone informed, solicit feedback, and address concerns.
Thank you for being part of our IGH Heat Soccer community.
